Release Notes

Changes since v3.3.3:

Mediags v3.5.0
  • Adds diagnostic for EAC gap handling; adds the Fussy escalator.
  • MP3: Removes radio replaygain diagnostic.
  • log (EAC): adds range rip diagnostics, support for older CTDB
  • log (XLD): adds basic recognition.

UberFLAC v3.5.0
  • Adds diagnostic for EAC gap handling.
  • Updates help documentation for v3.3.3 changes.
  • Adds experimental /fussy switch.

UberLAME v0.3.5
  • Created.

The new product UberLAME is a MP3 rip validator. Many of the same checks are performed by UberLAME as performed by UberFLAC.

UberLAME requires that extraction of CD contents must be performed by the Exact Audio Copy program (EAC) with the CUETools plugin and proper configuration. The extraction results must be contained within a single directory and that directory must not contain any results from another extraction.

At its simplest, UberLAME may be invoked from the command line with a directory as the argument. If a signature is provided, then a new file is created that contains hashes of the log file and the MP3 audio:

uberlame /sig:MySignature .

The Mediags Fussy escalator may be used to flag issues that do not affect rip integrity yet may not be up to particular requirements.

mediags /f:*.log /e:fussy C:\MyFlacLib

Download any of mediags.exe, uberflac.exe, uberlame.exe, or WpfFlac.exe. The uberflac.exe & WpfFlac.exe programs require the program flac.exe to be in your path. If the /rg switch is used, metaflac.exe must be in your path too. Extract them from downloaded from here:

There is no installer, just copy the above files to a directory in your path. Execute from the command line. Use the switch /help to view syntax.

You may also create a desktop shortcut to any of the executables mediags.exe or uberflac.exe and add the /k switch to the target in the shortcut properties dialog. Then drag and drop a directory from Explorer to the shortcut icon to invoke the program recursively on that directory. The /k switch instructs the program to wait for a keypress before exiting.
